Globalization: A Human Agenda

Globalization is the advancement of the human race as a whole. There is no denying the differences in various cultures across the globe where ideas, information, events, decisions, and actions exist. Globalization is the awareness of these cultures and the ability inside oneself to escape the bubble of individualism and mutually respect every culture; hence, accepting what they bring to the world and to use it to better oneself. Whether it is technology or tradition every perspective can help shape one’s outlook. Remember the old adage of “two minds are better than one”; globalization is “seven billion minds are better than one”.
In a perfect world every different culture would be on a technologically level playing field; unfortunately our world is not perfect. In the vast atmospheric media umbrella that is encompassing the globe there are tears, rips, and holes failing to cover certain areas leaving them out of the web that connects so many. As Hanno Hardt proclaims in Myths for the Masses, “Niklas Luhman reminds us, whatever we know, we know through media.”[1]. When the media does not reach certain areas, information poverty happens. For globalization to work up to its full population potential, the media must span the globe equally. Unfortunately this is idealistic because of various factors such as money.

  1. I know your underlining meaning was directed towards the key term globalization but this idea of putting our 'minds together' seems to also apply well to how we have been using the interenet most recently (website concepts such as blog/forum based sites). The phrasing in the first paragraph is simple and strong and makes a good point.
