Aura is a feeling exclusive to an individual when exposed to a type of information whether it is a book or work of art. Because perception varies between all individuals, each experience when in contact with the information or work of art differs. This may even apply to the feeling you get when you meet a celebrity. In terms of art, there is only one original. Often times, we travel to see these art forms for the experience of the aura. According to Walter Benjamin, “Man made artifacts could always be imitated by men.”[1] In our modern day digital world, anyone around the globe may have access to view The Mona Lisa or Michelangelo's David through the use of the Internet. Some may argue that through the mass media, the Aura is diminishing. I believe that the Aura is becoming broader enabling more people to experience their feelings and developing their own opinions when viewing an art form.
