What is Globalization?

Globalization involves multiple countries and nations influencing and sharing ideas with one another. Sometimes intentionally, and other times not, the sharing can include anything from their society such as technology, economic strategies, and even foods. In today’s modern technology age, globalization has played a much more prominent role in every day life. Through the Internet, cable television, and social networks, people are instantaneously able to share information they previously could not. Globalization can be viewed in a positive light, but it can also hold a negative connotation. In the positive way, globalization is way for people around the world to access more information than ever before. For people who believe that globalization holds a negative connotation, they see globalization as “first world” countries dominating smaller “third world” countries and changing their native cultures.[1]

  1. I agree that Globalization denotes both positive and negative connotations. I would also like to add that another negative connotation toward globalization is the increased dependency of technology.

  2. In my humble opinion, I believe that super powers have always dominated the world in the modern era and globalization has offered people from developing nations a taste of freedoms afforded to them in the developed nations.
