As I live, eat, and breathe sports, my favorite blog is obviously sports related. SBNation.com not only focuses on the small stories in the sports world, but also on the ones that a typical sports fan wouldn't hear about, such as when a washed up player works out for a new team.
Additionally, SBNation provides humorous posts having to do with-but not necessarily restricted to-professional sports. For example, since the NBA season is only a week old, a blog on it would not be able to give much perspective to readers. Instead, Andrew Sharp wrote a power ranking not of NBA teams, but instead of NBA commercials up to this point.
The most critical aspect of SBNation for me is its tagline; Pro Quality. Fan Perspective. Gone are the days when I read blogs with terrible writing by sports fanatics or ones with superb writing that did not offer a real opinion because the writer was first and foremost that--a writer. In such a situation, a writer is too far removed from the topic at hand because of their duties as a writer and he or she does not focus enough on the sports opinion aspect of the blog.
