My Favorite Blog

postsecret.com

Every sunday, it refreshes its webpage with new postcards that contain secrets. PostSecret is an ongoing project where people mail in a postcard with their secret written on them. So, it is not just one author but it could be anyone since all the postcards are anonymous. It could be your next door neighbor’s secret, your best friend, or even your english professor. The purpose of the anonymous postcards is to let out the pain of holding on a secret that you can never tell. This past summer, PostSecret received a postcard about an illegal immigrant who planned to jump off the Golden Gate bridge because he feels unwanted in San Francisco. This postcard became big as there was a Facebook group named “Please Don’t Jump” with many PostSecret fans as members. The disadvantage of PostSecret is that we will never know whether he/she jumped off the Golden Gate bridge or not. But overall, it is a great stress reliever for both the senders and readers. Personally, when I’m viewing the blog, I feel better that I’m not the only one with secrets and it’s even better when you find your secret on a random postcard which makes you feel less alone.
