Library Workshop: Webpage Evaluation

The webpage I chose as a valuable academic resource may not exactly fit the criteria, but I do deem it a valuable resource of ideas that many of you will enjoy if you have not already visited so. The website is www.ted.com. “TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.”

The website has numerous short videos of people who are experts in their field, presenting their ideas or visions. I am sure that everyone will find some speech whose topic would be of interest to them. A while ago, I saw this speech: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/hans_rosling_shows_the_best_stats_you_ve_ever_seen.html

What made me choose www.ted.com was another interesting website that I came across over the past few days that allows me to manipulate and play with the graphs Hans Rosling presents in the video above. This website is http://www.gapminder.org/ and I recommend everyone to play with the graphs and sort through the ton of data that the site offers.
