What is Globalization?

As nations around the world have grown, so too have the ways in which they function. From the hunting and gathering of early man to the trading of goods between colonial settlers, man’s ability to develop has been one of its most defining characteristics. Furthermore, globalization has had a large hand in the physical and societal developments of the world as it is the force that integrates useful devices between cultures.

However, recent developments in technology have caused a problem in globalization. Though some areas such as North America, Europe, and Asia have taken giant strides in the world of electronics (specifically, the digital world and the internet), others, such as Africa and South America have been left behind. According to Norris, basic access to technologies such as the Internet must be had by all before it can be classified as beneficial. (1)
