This summer I interned in the Marketing and Communications Department at the Museum of the City of New York and the previous summer I had a marketing internship for a small writing website, WEbook.com. At WEbook, I produced a daily blog about the website's features and answered users' questions about various aspects of the site, while marketing the site to bloggers in writing-related forums and users of websites similar to WEbook. That was my first real experience with a professional blog (other than a middle school Xanga) and it was a lot of fun being able to publish my writing daily, without having my words revised to fit someone else's standard of "good" writing.
I am currently the Enrollment Management Marketing Intern here at BU, and hope to continue gaining insight into the marketing field. In addition to my passion for writing, I'm extremely interested in international relations and global organizations. In 2008, I interned at the United Nations, working in the Public Information's Strategic Communications Division, which increased my interest in human rights. I love the idea of my work reaching and affecting others on a global scale (which is essentially what mass media does), so it would be great to have a career that combines communications with an international organization's mission. I'm really looking forward to learning more about global mass media and blogging through this course!
