Me, Myself, and I

Hi, my name is Katie Hartnett and I grew up in Syracuse, NY. I'm a junior, and this is my first year at Binghamton. I transferred from SUNY Purchase, which is next to White Plains, NY (just outside of NYC). At Purchase, I was in the Theatre Arts and Film Conservatory Program, where I majored in Dramatic Writing. Now, I'm majoring in English with concentrations in rhetoric and global culture. The main reasoning behind taking this class is to fulfill my general education requirements.

Otherwise, I'm very interested in social and economic issues worldwide, and am motivated to join others in finding solutions to these problems. I hope to join the Peace Corps post-graduation, and have plans on volunteering over-seas this summer. Another passion I have is music and by getting an english degree here at BU, I'm hoping to someday be successful as a music journalist or work for a small label doing A&R type-work. I'm also really into film, which was part of the focus of my studies while at Purchase. I used to play a bunch of sports in high school, namely softball, volleyball, and ice hockey.

Anyways, I'm adjusting to the transfer, and though Binghamton isn't exactly NYC, I'm sure I'll handle the next two years fine.
