Hey everybody! My name's Cortney Zamm and I'm in my Senior year at Binghamton as a Cinema major. While film is my background and my passion, I also have an interest in media, especially videogames and journalism on the web, which lead me to take this class.
Over the summer, I worked at Best Buy fixing computers. On the side I wrote for a website, www.theflickcast.com, where I write about videogames, movies, tv shows, and technology, and I got to attend San Diego Comic Con as a journalist, which was pretty incredible. I've been blogging on my own for almost ten years, writing anything from personal journal entries to movie reviews. Blogging for this class will be a lot of fun for me, not just because it's something I already do in my spare time, but because it'll give me a chance to get to know all of you outside of class.
For fun I love to sing, play videogames, and read. My favorite book I've read so far this year was The Hunger Games, which, while being a teen fiction book, was almost impossible to put down. I'm also a TV addict. I watch about 10 shows a week on tv, which, as you can imagine, is incredibly time consuming but always rewarding. My favorite shows right now are Dexter, Chuck, and Sons of Anarchy.
Here at Binghamton I'm the president of the Filmmaker's Club, and I work as a ResCon fixing computers in College in the Woods. When I graduate, I plan on seeking an internship or job in tech journalism, or get a job fixing computers and providing tech support professionally.
