Hi! My name is Luyang Zhang and I am an international student from Qingdao, China. I'm a sophomore majoring in English with a concerntration in Global culture and Rhetoric.I am a little shy and don't talk much. I love reading,writing, watching movies and shopping. I writes for a Chinese online magzine for two years. I think I am not an acadmic person. I don't want to learn everything in a stressful study way. My freshman year is full of confusions. I couln't know what should I learn in the college. I spend one year to find out it and then I change my major to English.
My native language is not enlish so that english major is not easy for me. when my Chinese friends got known what my major is, all their responses are" Luyang, are you crazy? How can you read those hard-understanding books and finish piles of essays?" I think in their eyes, I am really doing a crazy thing because I need to spend moretime to complete homeworks than those native speakers. The reason why I took this adventure is that I want to be a editor and found my own magzine after my graduation.
However, in the past I read books and articles in Chinese and wrote in Chinese, too. In China, I can tell people I am doing well in writing but in U.S, I can't. I'm weak at grammar and vocabulary . Besides, I feel like I know nothing about American culture and mass media. So I hope I can learn a lot from this class and all of you. This class is my most excited one I have ever taken.
