Me, Myself, and I

Hi,

My name is Giang "Leo" Vu. I'm a transfer from Seattle, Washington and currently a sophomore credit-wise. I have an intent to study Economics as a major but have yet declared so.

To me, blog is a facility to express my individuality, my creativity, and my complexity. I was introduced to blog from an early age. As I grew older, I stopped blogging and decided that I need to dedicate to a more attainable method of information-sharing: periodicals.

My first year of community college, I joined and became the Managing editor of Central Circuit, a mostly internal periodical that published monthly. My work at Central Circuit, though amateurish and aptly circulated, was my first hands-on experience with the publication industry and mass media itself.

Having been exposed to 2 different methods of information-sharing, I concluded that information has mass. Concert flyers are printed on construction paper. Internet news exude current events while burning electricity. Flat screen TV plays sensational images while contributing to global warming. Communication takes a wealth of resources. How many of them are wasted?

It's entirely up to the information-receivers to decide whether mass media is useful or unsustainable. Do the receivers throw the information into the landfill of useless knowledge? Or do they analyze the information consciously and recycle it into thoughtful conversation? I strongly feel that without interactions between senders and receivers - receivers and receivers, mass media is wasted and deglobalized.

Receivers: Be the alternate Senders.
