Today, with evolution in technology, communication through mass media is the largest and most easily accessible way to receive and transmit information. In the wise words of Niklas Luhmann, "whatever we know, we know through the media." (Myths for the Masses, 4). With the use of media such as televised news and social networking sites information can be transmitted almost worldwide in seconds, which is truly remarkable. The only downfall is that we are essentially at the mercy of the media. Since the idea of mass media is so large there can be discrepancy over who is communicating it with the rest of the world. The information can be a bias based on the ideals of the communicator transmitting the information. With that aside mass communication is the one of the most important facets of our world today.
